Wednesday, October 25, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Continued from page 8 Rylee Weber and Jackie May were honored. Coach Jaron Jacobsen noted both his players. “Rylee is a tremendous student, soccer player, and all-around great kid with a positive attitude,” said Jacobsen. “She always looks for the best out of all situa- tions, and her natural leader- ship will be missed. It was a pleasure to have her on the team, and have her lead this young team into battle every game. “Jackie came out late, but is a great kid with the same positive attitude and energy. Although she was injured most of the season, she was always at practice encourag- ing the team to get better. Her leadership was also important to this young team in terms of hard work and training to get better.” Sisters had several chances on goal in the first half of the contest against the Falcons, but their keeper made some huge saves to keep the score deadlocked 0-0 at the half. Weber got Sisters on the scoreboard first, with a goal at the 45-minute mark, and the Outlaws took a 1-0 lead. Hallie Schwartz took a quick transition throw-in on the left side of the field; Rylee ran onto it, took two dribbles and, according Jacobsen, scored a brilliant goal, which blasted over the keeper into the net at the far-side post. The Falcons scored in the 56th minute, and added another 12 minutes later to go up 2-1. Sisters continued to press, and did have some opportunities late in the game, including a free kick that the keeper pushed wide, but were unable to finish, which gave Elmira the victory. “Overall, this was the girls’ best performance,” said Jacobsen. “Rylee and Jackie both had a great game. They played hard on their last night at home wearing the Outlaw jersey. Jackie had three shots on goal and almost scored two. Rylee had five shots on goal, and scored one.” On Thursday, Sisters traveled to Junction City and wrapped up league play under cold and rainy weather conditions with a 2-0 loss to the Tigers. The Outlaws were down to just 15 players due to injuries, so everyone got time on the field. Sisters had a few chances to score in the first half, but just couldn’t put the ball into the back of the net. JC scored on a long shot from 30 yards out, and at the half they held a 1-0 advantage over the Outlaws. With about 15 minutes left in the contest, the Tigers punched in their second goal. Sisters was pressing forward to try and score to even the game, but it opened it up for JC to score. “The girls played a great game today, and they’ve had a tremendous season,” said Jacobsen. “Our record doesn’t do the girls justice in terms of development, and how hard they’ve worked to get where they are now. I’m extremely proud of this group and look forward to next season.” Weber shared her thoughts on the season. “Nearly every one of our losses in league was by a mar- gin of one goal,” said Weber. “This team has what it takes, and it stinks to fight so hard and come so close. I’m proud to have left all I had on the home field for the last time. These girls play hard, and it’s a pleasure to play with them, win or lose.” The Lady Outlaws fin- ished their season 1-8-1 in Sky-Em play, and 2-10-1 overall. Pickleball community groundbreaking...
