Wednesday, October 18, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 7 Girls soccer drops two By Rongi Yost Correspondent Est. 2002 - Sisters Owned The Lady Outlaws soc- cer squad dropped both their games this past week, a 3-1 loss at home against Sutherlin on Tuesday, October 10, and two days later a 2-1 loss at Sweet Home. In Tuesday’s game against Sutherlin, Sisters started off sluggish and at the half found themselves down 3-0. The Bulldogs scored at the 12-minute mark and within 10 minutes had tacked on two additional goals. Nine minutes into the sec- ond half, Brianna Bachmeier scored Sisters’ lone goal of the contest. Gracen Sundstrom played a big ball over the top of the defense and Bachmeier used her speed to beat everyone to the ball. Brianna scored from about 12 yards out to the right side of the goalie. The Outlaws had a couple more great opportunities to score in the final half, but just couldn’t get it into the net. One chance came around the 55-minute mark. Sisters was awarded a free kick from approximately 35 yards out. Coach Jaron Jacobsen told The Nugget that Sundstrom struck the ball with a magic touch that sent the ball toward the far post. It hit the cross- bar, and Weber took a follow- up shot, but it was saved by the goalie. In the 64th minute, the Outlaws were awarded a pen- alty kick for a foul that Weber drew in the back. Sadly, the shot missed, and went over the goal. Sisters applied pressure and dominated possession in the second half, but just couldn’t finish their chances. On Thursday the Outlaws traveled to Sweet Home and fell 2-1 in a contest that Jacobsen and others called a poorly officiated game. Jacobsen said, “Sweet Home players were com- ing into tackles late, throw- ing elbows towards the face and stomach area, and being overly aggressive most of the game.” Jacobsen picked up a yel- low card 15 minutes into the contest because of a spe- cific play, where one of the Outlaws was elbowed and launched to the ground, and no foul was given. Sarah Conroy, Chiropractor “I’m not a coach to let that type of play take place during a game where I am coach- ing, so I let the official know, and asked them to watch the elbows and to call it both ways,” said Jacobsen. “Even after that, the game got even more physical.” Sweet Home players were coming into tackles late, throwing elbows towards the face and stomach area, and being overly aggressive most of the game. — Coach Jaron Jacobsen The Huskies scored their first goal in the 16th minute of play, and they added a sec- ond at the 33-minute mark. At the half, the Outlaws were down 0-2. Gracen Sundstrom did have a great strike off a free kick, which headed to the CLEARA O N N C NO E W ! BIKE SALE Call 541-588-2213 392 E.
