Wednesday, October 11, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 7 A bad one... Obituaries Nancy Alice Mohler (Strickler) Born in Hopeland, PA to Harry and Bessie Strickler, she was the youngest in a family of six with sister Mary and brothers Robert and James. Nancy attended Ephrata High School and was elected to student coun- cil and participated in choir. It was there she met her devoted husband, Ronald Mohler, whom she married in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, in 1950. They began a family soon afterwards and gradually moved west. They settled in Corvallis, and retired in sunny Sisters. She was Ron’s inspiration and companion. Wherever they were, home was a priority and they made everyone feel like family. Nancy was a nurturing and loving person. She took pride in raising her eight children and had many plea- sures in life including teach- ing Sunday school, mentor- ing, gardening, travelling the world and artistry. We will all remember Nancy in different ways. As the matri- arch of a large family we can recall her compassionate wisdom in the face of adver- sity, but also her many ways to celebrate family during joyful times. We think of Nancy through her cooking, where she passed down family rec- ipes and traditions, and also through her paintings and memories. She found peace in many places, whether it be in front of an easel with her paints, watching wildlife from her home, or singing in church choir. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband; eight children (Curt, Pam, Susan, Anita, John, Andy, Jenny, Lisa); 11 grandchil- dren and four great-grand- children. Her loving touch will be with us forever. A celebration of life will be held October 28 at 1 p.m. PHOTO COURTESY SISTERS-CAMP SHERMAN FIRE DISTRICT at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Sisters.
