Apply in person at La Magie, 473 E. Hood Ave. Outlaws run into the heart of the season at Oxford, but he had a tre- mendous last mile and beat a whole bunch of high-quality runners. He ran a heckuva race.” Pollard ended up in sev- enth place, by far the top 4A runner in the meet and beaten only by 6A and 5A runners, including the winner of the race, Evan Holland of Ashland, who finished fifth at the state 5A meet last year. “Jordan is showing that he can really race against any- one in Oregon,” said Nordell. “Now we just have to keep him healthy and continue to sharpen between now and the championship races.” Freshman Ethan Hosang had another solid effort as well, finishing in 17:33, mak- ing him the third fastest fresh- man in the race as he placed 27th among 183 racers. The remainder of the var- sity runners included Josh By Charlie Kanzig Correspondent After a tough week of workouts that included train- ing for Friday’s Oxford Classic in Bend, the Outlaws cross-country team enters what Head Coach Josh Nordell considers the heart of the racing season. This is not to say the Outlaws did not compete hard at the Oxford meet, according to Nordell. “We knew the kids would be racing a little tired and sore, but they pushed them- selves nonetheless,” he said. The course at Drake Park is very spectator-friendly, but notoriously slow compared to other courses the team will see the rest of the season, so times don’t tell the true story. Nordell explained, “So Jordan Pollard ran 16:10 last week in Portland and 16:58 Liddell (18:43), Will Thorsett (19:42), Cole Pade (19:43), Jack Berg (20:12), and Jed Kizziar (20:45). The team was missing freshman John Peckham due to a minor injury. “We still have work to do to tighten up our pack of runners three through seven, which will be our focus in the next couple of weeks,” said Nordell. Another bright spot for the boys was Vincente Rebolledo’s seventh-place finish in the junior varsity race with a time of 19:40. The girls team has been beset by some illness and injury, delaying the “jelling” of the team a bit in Nordell’s opinion. “The upcoming weeks are important to the girls team to come together,” he said. “Anna Bartlett is our strong leader, and if we can get our pack of runners two through five tuned back up we will be in good position to meet our goals.” Bartlett showed some wear from the tough workout week, finishing the Oxford race in 21:46. Junior Ella Cole contin- ued her upward trend, placing second for the team in 23:10. — Serving all of Central Oregon — Sandy Goodsell Principal Broker ABR, CDPE, CIAS, GRI, SRES 541-480-0183 Buying or Selling in Sisters?
