From Wednesday, August 2 through Sunday, August 6, the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond will host music, talent shows, rodeo, carnival rides, dozens of vendor and 4H livestock showing in one of the premier county fairs in the state. If you need a ride — or just don’t want to deal with parking, a free shuttle leaves Sisters at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. on all fair days and on 4:30 p.m. except on Sunday. The shuttle leaves the fair- grounds at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. on all days; at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; and at 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. Each night at 7 p.m. will feature a concert from a major touring artist. Montgomery Gentry plays Wednesday, August 2; rock songwriter and performer Melissa Etheridge hits the stage on Thursday, August 3. Southern Rock stal- warts The Marshall Tucker Band play on Friday, August 4; and Old Dominion closes out the concerts on Saturday, August 5. Sisters’ own The Anvil Blasters will play at the food courtyard stage at 4 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 3. Rodeo action runs Wednesday through Saturday, and is free with fair admission. Many Sisters youths will show their patiently raised livestock at the livestock barns all through the fair. They’ve been preparing for months through the local 4H program. Weather forecasts call for very hot weather, so prepare accordingly. Drink lots of fluids, rest frequently — and enjoy one of the largest events in Deschutes County’s very full slate of summer activities. For more information visit https://expo.deschutes.org/ fair.
