24 Wednesday, June 28, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Cow Pasture Golf to support veterans The 2017 Cow Pasture Golf Open for the Central Oregon Veteran’s Ranch is July 8th at the Whistle Stop Farm and Flowers located at 65325 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Bend, just North of the Deschutes Market Road Overpass on Hwy 97. Registration is $35 each or $120 per team of four. Registration is at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. Shotgun Scramble start. Proceeds from this uncon- ventional golf activity will benefit the Central Oregon Veteran’s Ranch. According to organizers, not being a golfer is prob- ably to your advantage. Cow Pasture Golf is played with hockey sticks, baseball bats, croquet mallets, old golf clubs and tennis balls on a 15-hole course designed for fun and challenges. The course has raised tee boxes, uphill approaches, undulat- ing greens, water hazards, varmints, and rough fairways. The Caddy Shack will have implements and tennis balls for rent. Raffle tickets and hamburgers will be available for purchase. Coveted fresh baked pies as prizes will be awarded the winning team. Combined efforts of sev- eral Central Oregon Veterans organizations, including some from Sisters, are making this fun event possible to help oth- ers in our community. WRECK: Impairment may have been a factor in crash transported to St. Charles with critical, life-threaten- ing injuries. Lounsbury was ground transported to St. Charles with minor inju- ries. Lounsbury’s passenger, Tammy R. Lounsbury, age 53 from North Bend, was not injured. A c c o r d i n g t o O S P, Moreschi and Thompson knew each other and it is believed they were with each other shortly before the crash. Impairment is being considered as a contributing factor for both Moreschi and Thompson. The highway was affected for approximately six hours. ODOT, Deschutes County Sheriff ’s Office, Black Butte Police Department, and Sisters Fire and Rescue assisted OSP.
