22 Wednesday, April 5, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Julianne Meeter Sisters High School March 2017 Student of the Month Julianne Meeter — better known as Jules — is a spark plug. She loves people, and that manifests itself in a high degree of involvement in school activities. “I do everything I can to be in- volved in the school,” she says. She joined ASG as a sophomore, where she “made a lot of neat relation- ships.” As a junior, she ran for class president. She has played volleyball; soccer; basketball; and is a track athlete. “I love trying new things, new sports,” she says. Sheʼs also building a ukulele in woods. “I just want to get as much experi- ence as I can and make the most of it,” she says of her high school career. “It goes by so fast.” Jules plans to attend Califor- nia Baptist University in Riverside, California, where she will pursue the fi eld of psychology, where she can get to know and help people — because thatʼs what she loves. “It is diffi cult to express how much I appreciate and admire Jules Meeter. As a student in my English classes, she asked tough questions and sought meaning- ful answers, even when that intellectual work was hard. As the current co-pres- ident of our Associated Student Gov- ernment, she has put on countless school events, from the Veterans Day Assembly to the Spring Fling Dance. And as a proud Outlaw, she has spread her school spirit to her peers on the fi eld and in the hallways. She consciously strives to make our school better each and every day, and she does so for one simple reason—because she truly loves it. Her amazing example inspires everyone around her to become better ver- sions of themselves, and that is why she is so deserving of this award.” – Matt Bradley “Jules is a young woman who has suc- cessfully demonstrated commitment and leadership ability in many ways. She stands out as a leader who leads with an eff ective sense of confi dence and a genu- inely selfl ess attitude. Jules is truly an outstanding individual with much to of- fer. SHS has defi nitely benefi ted from the various contributions Jules has made. She will surely be missed around here.” – Samra Spear “Jules is an amazing person to work with in the ukulele-building class. She is incredibly cheerful and positive, while at the same time being serious and detailed about her work. It is a joy to have her in class and work with her! Way to go, Jules!” – David Perkins “I so appreciate the way Jules lives life. She works hard, she plays hard, she serves hard and all with the biggest of smiles. She jumps in where needed and especially in unrecognized ways. She is thoughtful and kind. I love the spirit she brings to the student section of various SHS events and her hoarse laugh afterwards. We are a bet- ter place for Jules being here.” – Jami Lyn Weber “Jules is a terrifi c selection for the Student of the Month. She is one of the most generous students in the building, always ready to stop what she’s doing to help another student or a teacher. She has a consistently positive attitude, which she eff ectively applies to her academics, elec- tives and co-curriculars. Her eternal smile and infectious optimism make it a plea- sure to be around her. Congrats, Jules, and good luck on your path ahead!” – Rob Corrigan These businesses have joined The Nugget in supporting our youth and their accomplishments by co-sponsoring the Student of the Month program.
