Wednesday, March 15, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Steve Poltz returns to The Belfry Steve Poltz is coming back to The Belfry Sunday, March 19, at 7 p.m. He is armed with new material, crazy antics, and lots of quirky sto- ries from the road. Steve Poltz is obsessed with the challenge of know- ing and understanding the thoughts of each and every person in his audience. He is a lover of life; fascinated by all things large and small. As a road-tested troubadour armed with whimsy, curios- ity and a healthy respect for the absurdities of existence, he is unafraid of saying yes, unafraid of letting his relent- less, giddy energy fill a room and he is unafraid of letting his streams-of-consciousness take him where he needs to go. His songs are guileless snapshots filtered through the windshield of his brain. He opens his mouth and lets it fall out – a song – and it’s as shameless and intriguing and profound and wondrous as he is. A mix of high octane performance, singular wit and endlessly entertaining sto- rytelling, Steve is legendary for his improvisational song- writing and timeless, original classics. Oh, and he’s a pretty good guitarist, too. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at bendticket.com. Duo to play at Rio Restaurant Mike Biggers and Jim Cornelius will bring their brand of Western Folk Americana to Rio Restaurant Thursday, March 16, at 6 p.m. “We’re going to mash up a little Ireland and a little Mexico,” said Cornelius. “Think of it as Dia de San Patricio.” The duo plays a mix of originals and songs by song- writers they admire, from Guy Clark to Steve Earle to Townes van Zandt and Tom Russell. Both are writers and they swap vocal duties as Cornelius plays guitar and Bigger switches between gui- tar and mandolin. Rio Restaurant is located at 1011 E. Desperado Trail on the FivePine campus.
