Science Fair gearing
up for March 18 event
The 2017 Sisters Science
Fair is forging ahead with
event plans and new exhibits.
The Science Fair is sched-
uled for Saturday, March 18
at Sisters High School from
noon to 4 p.m.
The Science Fair is a com-
munity-wide event attracting
people of all ages to observe,
ask questions and partici-
pate in the many hands-on
exhibits. There’s no reason
to be overwhelmed by the
exhibits. Students and adult
volunteers will be walk-
ing around wearing buttons
that say “ASK ME! What?
How? Why?” You can stop
one of them to ask questions
or find an expert to help you.
At the Science Fair, everyone
is encouraged to join in the
“magic of science” to learn
and have fun.
“This year we have even
more exciting experiments
and displays from all three
Sisters schools, community
businesses, universities and
statewide organizations,”
said Cal Allen, director of the
Sisters Science Fair. “We’ve
grown every year, with over
800 people last year walking
throughout the high school,

2017 SFF poster was revealed
to overwhelming applause
and cheers as folks gazed
upon Lady Liberty holding
a guitar in front of the world
painted in warm hues of blue
and yellow.
“The Statue of Liberty
stands in New York Harbor,
but belongs to all Americans.
She has welcomed count-
less immigrants since her
own arrival in 1886, and she
is seen here holding a small-
bodied parlor guitar — which
came into being around the
same time,” McGregor says
