Wednesday, December 28, 2016 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Girls basketball bitten by Bulldogs By Rongi Yost Correspondent The girls basketball team was routed 44-23 by the Culver Bulldogs at Culver on Tuesday, December 20. Sisters could not get their shots to fall, and they were plagued with turnovers the entire game. Culver took an early lead and never looked back. The Bulldogs were up 27-9 at the half, and continued to play hard until the final whistle blew. Sisters shot 25 percent from the field, and 23 percent from the free-throw line. Rylee Weber and Alexis Stewart each scored seven points for the Outlaws. Weber also recorded four steals. Amanda Smith scored five points, grabbed 10 boards and had two blocks in the contest. Sydney Head added four points. Assistant Coach Tiffany Lausen said, “Culver is a very well-coached team. They hustled and played a real good game. We’re a young team, but if we con- tinue to learn how to play together, take shots we know we can put in, and play good defense we will do very well.” Sisters is currently 3-2 overall. CORNELIUS (AP) — “Rogue One” has been a smashing success at the box office, but not every movie- goer has been riveted by the Star Wars story. Sheriff’s deputies in sub- urban Portland say a man awoke to an empty theater Saturday morning after fall- ing asleep during the movie. When he tried to leave, he triggered a motion-sensor alarm in the lobby. He called 9-1-1 for help and deputies helped him get out through an emergency exit. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office tells KATU-TV it doesn’t appear the incident is crime-related. More likely, theater employ- ees forgot to check for cus- tomers at closing time.
