Girls basketball falls to Mt. View By Rongi Yost Correspondent The girls basketball squad was scheduled to play Yamhill-Carlton on Friday, December 9, but due to severe weather conditions the game was cancelled. The Outlaws were able to pick up a game with Mt. View, who also had their regular game cancelled. Mt. View defeated the Outlaws 24-16, to earn their first win of the season. The Cougars went 0-10 and were held scoreless in the first quarter, but still man- aged to pull it together to secure the win. Sisters just couldn’t get shots to fall. The Outlaws were only 20 percent from the field, 10 percent from the three-point line, and 22 per- cent from the free-throw line. Sisters also turned the ball over 22 times. Sydney Head led the Outlaw scoring with six points, followed by Hogan Hernandez who put up four. Amanda Smith recorded five blocks and Meghan Greaney led the team in assists. Sisters was to play La Pine at home on Tuesday, December 13. The Outlaws will travel to the Seaside Invite Thursday through Saturday, December 15-17. The Sisters wrestling squad was inundated by the Summit Storm at home on Tuesday, December 6. The Storm smothered the Outlaws with a final score of 64-18. The 18 points the Outlaws did earn all came due to forfeits. Sisters’ two standouts were brothers Cole and Austin Pade. Cole lost 8-7 to Quintin McCoy in a barn- burner match that went down to the last seconds in the final round. Austin (freshman) also was tough in his match against Aidan Johnson. Austin was on his back in every round and fought not to get pinned. In the final seconds of the last round, Johnson finally got the pin. Coach John Downs said, “I haven’t seen a wrestler fight that long to not get pinned in a long time.” The Outlaws will com- pete at the Adrian Irwin Invitational at Ridgeview on Friday and Saturday, December 16-17.
