Wednesday, November 23, 2016 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 5 Art Stroll November 25 By Helen Schmidling Correspondent Friday is the day after Thanksgiving … what to do? Come out early for the Fourth Friday Art Stroll from 4 to 7 p.m. in the many galleries of Sisters. Plan some extra time to enjoy the art stroll before the tree-lighting ceremony at Fir Street Park. Bigfoot Wellness, at 392 E. Main Ave., is joining the art stroll, featuring art by Linda Hanson, and holiday shopping from a selection of local artisan goods, kids’ clothes, cards, woodworking, herbal self-care, etc. Along with several new artists in various media, Ken Scott (Imagination Gallery) has a Christmas selection of lyrical lighting in metals. Lamps galore are created throughout the year especially for the season. Studio Redfield features Johanna Boyd’s Heritage Kitchen Collection, work based on the landscape and heritage of her two distinct homelands: Oregon’s Pacific Northwest and southern Finland. She extracts elements of the traditional and regional clothing of Finland (the kan- sallispuku) and hand-block prints them in a culturally respectful and contemporary manner. Clearwater Gallery kicks off its holiday tradition of Red Bow specials, every weekend through Christmas. Each weekend features a dif- ferent selection of Red Bow discounts on artists’ work. Hood Avenue Art features its Small Wonders exhibit, wherein gallery artists share small-format works of all media, for art collectors to give the gift of art. Watch for an upcoming concert December 8, by Jim Cornelius and Friends, to benefit the medical expenses of Sisters youth Ryan Benson. At Gary Cooley’s Collection Gallery, look for work by Sisters resident Clarke Berryman, who was raised on a ranch in Montana before starting his veterinary practice in Oregon. Aside from working with animals, his talents include pencil-and- oil art and wildlife photogra- phy. Dr. Berryman has trav- eled extensively in Africa, South America, and India to search out his subject matter. Stop in Sisters Gallery & Frame Shop to sit in Carol Grigg’s Big Red Crow chair. Her work is featured this month, along with the gal- lery’s pottery, knitting bowls, knitted hats and scarves, wooden plates, and precious- metal-clay jewelry, perfect for gift-giving. Twigs Home & Garden has a show by the Central Oregon Textile Artists Collective, featuring local fiber artists and Stitchin’ Post employees. There will be work as unique and individual as each art- ist. The show will continue through the holidays. Other galleries open for this month’s art stroll include Beacham’s Clock Company, Dyrk Godby Gallery, Things Etc., Raven Makes Gallery, Navigator News, Cha for the Finest, Old West Collectables, The Jewel, Jill Neal Gallery and Sisters Library Gallery. Sisters Art Works Entry Gallery will not participate in this Friday’s Art Stroll, but is featuring photography by Al Krause. From Sisters Rodeo images to beautiful owls, Krause captures the beauty of Sisters Country. This gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. On December 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., visit the Art Works Holiday Open House, featur- ing pet photos with Santa (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to benefit Furry Friends, fun items from the studio of Kathy Deggendorfer and Tonye Belinda Phillips, and new art from Kit Stafford and Lynn Woodward. Don’t forget to sign up for the December Quick Draw. This month’s drawing is for a $100 gift certificate to The Open Door, one of Sisters’ most popular dining venues. Sign up one time per gallery, but visit as many galleries as you can. Remember that Saturday, November 26 is Small Business Saturday.
