Wednesday, October 5, 2016 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 11 Volleyball team tallies two more wins By rongi Yost Correspondent The Lady Outlaws remain undefeated in league play after knocking off Junction City and Cottage Grove last week. Sisters made short work of their road trip to Junction City on Tuesday, September 27. The squad played loose and clobbered the Tigers with scores of 25-8, 25-11, and 25-16. The highlight of the match was the Outlaws’ serves. Everyone on the team did a great job at the service line and pounded balls over the net. Everybody got playing time on the court, and accord- ing to Coach Rod Jones, the entire team did a good job. “Tonight, we took care of business,” said Jones. “I was able to try out several differ- ent lineups, and it was a fun night for everybody.” Two days later, the Outlaws swept the Lions at home in three sets, with scores of 25-5, 25-13, and 25-16. The first set opened with a very long rally before Sisters got their first point. From there, Sisters made short work of the Lions with pow- erful kills and great blocks. Everyone got time on the court, and Jones again was able to try new lineups. Jones told The Nugget that his two middle players, Brooke Knirk and Emma Houck, are improving with every match. “We’ve just got to pass to our setter, so she can get more balls to our middles,” said Jones. “Both Brooke and Emma are just doing a great job.” Both Brooke and emma are just doing a great job. — rod Jones Jones also noted Ashlynn Cantwell, who had a very solid night hitting. “I was very, very pleased with the kids tonight, and I was excited about their play,” said Jones. “We didn’t play down, and we didn’t relax. The girls did a great job exe- cuting, they were focused, and put it all together. They played hard and were active defensively and went to every ball. “They served well the whole match, and they had one of the most solid pass- ing performances they’ve had Starts Friday Fri., Oct. 7 – Thurs., Oct. 13 Oct 5 / Wed / 8-11 PM Greg Brown Folk singer & award-winning songwriter, he moves his audiences with warmth, humor and deeply human musical vision.
