Grant enhances scholarship impact
Sisters GRO (Graduate
Resource Organization) has
been granted a $5,000 match-
ing grant opportunity. In addi-
tion, Sisters GRO is looking
for two new board members
to build a program that will
last a lifetime within Sisters.
The
Roundhouse
Foundation has provided to
Sisters GRO a $5,000 match-
ing grant to support the
ASPIRE program at the high
school. The ASPIRE resource
is a 1:1 program designed to
help students (and parents)
navigate the post-high-school
path and education decisions.
Students are matched with
volunteer mentors from the
community starting in the
junior year. The matching
grant opportunity will go a
long way to help support the
ASPIRE program. Contact
Karen Hensley, info@
sistersgro.com, if you can pro-
vide any contribution (small
or large) to help us match the
generous Roundhouse grant
opportunity.
The Sisters GRO board
is looking for two qualified
board members to help shape
and build the GRO resource
for Sisters High School
(SHS). Legal and accounting
experience is desired. Sisters
GRO’s mission is “to help
Sisters High School gradu-
ates achieve their educational
aspirations, inspiring them
to give back by becoming
more.”

CLARIFICATIoN
City Recorder Kathy
Nelson clarified that prospec-
tive candidates for Sisters
City Council do not have to
have their applications to
her by August 16 – that is a
“soft date to make sure they
have enough time to get the
signatures required, get them
9
certified by the County Clerk
and get all the paperwork
back to me by August 30
prior to 5 p.m.”
Nelson said, “Someone
can wait until the morn-
ing of the 30th to start the
paperwork if they want,
but they would likely run
out of time to complete the
process.”
