Wednesday, June 22, 2016 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 5 Sisters Fourth Friday Art Stroll on June 24 Summer is here, and again large crowds are expected to experience and enjoy the wide variety of beautiful art that Sisters’ many galleries have to offer at the Fourth Friday Art Walk on June 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. Hood Avenue Art is fea- turing oil painter Katherine Taylor, who uses mood, color, and paint texture to form two-dimensional images that suggest a three-dimensional experience; and Jeff and Heather Thompson, glass art- ists who create an intelligent blend of contemporary and traditional glass-blown sculp- tures. Join them for food, wine and great music as they celebrate the beginning of their third successful year in business. Gary Cooley’s Collection Gallery highlights local art- ist Jim Horsley, who brings a freshness and honesty to his oil paintings that stirs the imagination and appeal of Central Oregon’s Western heritage. Clearwater Gallery’s 11th Annual Miniature Show will run Friday, June 24, from 4 to 6 p.m., with art, artists, wine, light appetizers, and a sense of community. Preview some of the entered miniatures at www.theclearwatergallery. com. Alpenhimmel will dis- play work from local art- ists Charity Alva and Wendy Bachmeier; mosaic jewelry by Laurie Santa Maria; and assemblage art by Terri Smith. Enjoy the music of Elizabeth Pettyjohn and Scout Miller, fine wine and hors d’oeuvres. This month they are sponsor- ing Camp Tamarack, which offers outdoor school, art, and camping experiences to all middle school children in Central Oregon. Twigs Gallery features Judy Hoiness, a well-known Bend artist, who uses a mixed media approach with vintage textiles, printing, painting, and drawing in this series. She and Jean Wells have worked collaboratively with abstract landscape as their theme. Jean explores the colors and textures of our Central Oregon landscape as well as the beach. Ken Scott’s Imagination Gallery, owner and artist Ken Scott will display several new works in his “Steampunk” genre. Other artists will fea- ture new paintings in water- colors, oils and acrylics, fused stained-glass scenery, raku pots and vases, clay birdbaths and lamps, chande- liers, garden lights and scen- ery in metal. Don’t miss the fascinating music and great refreshments. Studio Redfield is fea- turing wood artists Greg Davidge and Laurence Dyer. Over the past thirty years, they have shared a love of the various woods that they use in their craft. The beautiful boxes designed and made by Laurence Dyer feature combi- nations of exotic woods such as koa and mango in combi- nation with regional materials such as agate and elk antler. Greg Davidge works with exotic woods to create beauti- ful turned bowls and furniture pieces.
