Ryan Cook pitched a no-
hitter to lead the Outlaws to
their 11-1 victory over Sweet
Home at home on Friday,
April 22. Three days earlier,
Sisters lost 4-3 at Cottage
Grove.
In Friday’s game against
Sweet Home, the Outlaws
scored 11 runs on eight hits
and had three errors in the
game. Sweet Home got one
run off zero hits, and had
three errors.

Outlaws on the scoreboard
in the first inning with a two-
RBI double to left center. The
hit scored Alec Gannon and
J.W. Bertagna and put the
Outlaws on top 2-0.
In the second, the Outlaws’
batters were on fire. Ryan
Cook hit a two-RBI double,
and J.W. Bertagna had a two-
RBI single. Will Werts and
Alec Gannon both had RBI
singles in the inning.
“All of those were hit
well,” said Coach Steve
Hodges. “There were no
cheapies in there.”
Sisters added two runs in
the third off an RBI double
from Gannon and an RBI sin-
gle from Werts. The final run
came in the fifth on an error.
After five innings, the game
was over due to the 10-run
rule.
Cook recorded four strike-
outs in the contest.
“Ryan had command of
his fastballs, and mixed in
an occasion curve-ball,”
said Hodges. “He stayed in
the strike zone and made
the hitters put the ball in
play.”

three-hitter and a no-hitter in
his last 12 innings of work,
which Hodges stated is phe-
nomenal for a kid that didn’t
even pitch last year.
In their game at Cottage
Grove earlier in the week,
the Outlaws had 10 hits in
the game, but were unable to
get any back-to-back. They
got three runs off 10 hits, and
committed one error in the
game.
J.W. Bertagna went four-
for-four in the game, and
had two spectacular diving
catches in the outfield. Ryan
Funk went three-for-four with
two RBI in the third.
Sisters had a chance in the
13
eighth with the bases loaded
with one out, but the follow-
ing two batters struck out, and
the inning was over.
The Outlaws played good
defense, but left 11 runners
on base. Zach Morgan did a
good job on the mound the
first six innings. Morgan left
the mound with the score tied
at 3-3. Bertagna pitched the
seventh and eighth innings,
and Cook closed out the
ninth.
Sisters was to face the
Huskies at Sweet Home
on Tuesday, April 26. On
Friday, April 29, the Outlaws
will play at home against
Elmira.
May Day is Lei Day in
Hawaii, and Sisters Park &
Recreation District Adult/
Senior Programs Coordinator
Shannon Mokuahi Rackowski
has decided to start the ticket
sales for SPRD’s annual
luau.
“We have had calls and
people stopping by at SPRD
to ask when the tickets will
go on sale, they don’t want to
miss it or it be sold out,” she
said.
The first “Lei Day”
was celebrated on May 1,
1928, on Oahu, with fes-
tivities centered in Queen
Kaipiolani Park, in Waikiki
with hula competitions,
Hawaiian music, and King
K a m e h a m e h a ’s s t a t u e
adorned with maile and plu-
meria leis.
SPRD’s third annual luau
is set for Thursday, August
11, at Village Green Park in
the heart of Sisters.
“Last year we served 475
meals, so this year I will
be capping it at 500,” said
Mokuahi Rackowski. “I
don’t want anyone to be dis-
appointed that we were sold
out like it has been for the last
two years, so please purchase
your tickets early.”
Luau is a traditional
Hawaiian celebration that
brings together food, danc-
ing, song and celebration of
friends.
Tickets are available at
SPRD, online at www.sis
tersrecreation.com, or call
541-549-2091. SPRD is
