Wednesday, April 1, 2015 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 33 Brenna Weems Sisters High School March 2015 Student of the Month “I really enjoy making everybody happy... And it feels good to give back to the community, especially when ev- erybody gives so much support,” says Brenna Weems. She’s a community-builder. “I think I’ve made a really big impact on the school, and not everybody gets to say that about high school,” she says. Brenna gives back through promot- ing school spirit through the school spirit committee and as president of Key Club. She’s a four-year varsity volley- ball player and is currently part of the Outlaws’ No. 1 doubles team in tennis. She’s strong academically and is fo- cused on pursuing a career in the medi- cal fi eld. She’ll attend Lehigh Univer- sity in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to pur- sue medicine, with a particular interest in pediatrics. And she’ll continue to give back, build community and work to see every- body happy. “Every so often a student comes along who is truly amazing in her commitment to school, community, and family — Brenna is one of these unique students who is always the fi rst to offer to help, whether it be another student or staff. I am so happy that Brenna is being recognized for all that she gives to the school. I have had the privilege of working with Brenna on the Associated Student Gov- ernment and as Key Club Advisor for which Brenna has served as president for the last year. This type of service, on top of her being an outstanding student is just a few examples of the type of person Brenna is. Her dedica- tion and follow-through will be sorely missed as she moves on to the next chapter.” — Michele Hammer “Brenna is one of the kindest students at SHS! She is involved in a multitude of activi- ties and is a leader in our school community. I am excited to see Brenna accomplish great things as she leaves Sisters High School! Her leadership and positive attitude will certainly be missed. I wish her nothing but the best!” — Mark Stewart “Good things happen to good people. Brenna is such an upbeat, wonderful person that she deserves this honor as Student of the Month, as well as the many more good things that will certainly come to this talented girl. Brenna is a conscientious and dedicated student and a tenacious athlete. Even more special is the generous, happy spirit she shares with everyone she meets each day. Congrats, Brenna!” — Rob Corrigan “I have had the pleasure of getting to know Brenna in several settings. Not only is she intelligent, insight- ful and inspiring, she is an effective leader. There is great force hidden in a sweet command. With genuine care, this young lady has a way of gently leading. That’s what I love most about Brenna. The world needs more people like her. Congratulations, Brenna!” — Samra Spear “Brenna is such a go-getter. In my art classes she is very creative and really digs deep with each problem and is ready to try new things. She has such a kind and sunny disposition, and is helpful to her peers as well. She is talented, smart, and thoughtful, and I have such a good time every time she is in my classes.” — Bethany Gunnarson “I have had the privilege of having Brenna all year in two of my science classes. She has such a positive, upbeat attitude and strives to do her best in whatever endeavor she is pursu- ing. Brenna is one of those rare students who really looks below the surface of what she is learning and digs deeper to gain a better un- derstanding of the concepts. She is an awe- some person who is articulate, conscientious and compassionate. I have truly enjoyed hav- ing her in class. Congratulations, Brenna!” — Glen Herron These businesses have joined The Nugget in supporting our youth and their accomplishments by co-sponsoring the Student of the Month program.
