Wednesday, March 4, 2015 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 21 Lane Gladden Sisters High School February 2015 Student of the Month Lane Gladden works as hard in the classroom as he does on the athletic fi eld. He’s carrying an unweighted 4.0 GPA with a full load of Advanced Placement classes in history, English, calculus, and biology. “I’m just trying to get as many classes done before college that I can,” he ex- plains. He wants to get a head start. He’s also been a three-sport athlete for all four years of high school, playing football, basketball, and lacrosse. He’s also an avid skier (Disappointing year,” he says. “Very disappointing year!”). He’s an IEE intern, which refl ects his love of “being in the wild, adventuring.” In addition to academics and ath- letics, Lane is building a guitar in his woods class. It’s all good preparation for his inten- tion to attend Westminster College in Salt Lake City. His ultimate goal is to enter the world of aviation. “Lane Gladden is one of the most unself- ish students I have ever taught or coached. He is an absolute team-player and always does his best. He is positive, energetic and someone you want around in any situation. A true Outlaw!” — Rand Runco “Lane Gladden is a tremendous choice for this month’s Nugget student. Ever since he set foot in the high school, Lane has had a posi- tive presence in not only our school, but in the community. He is unfailingly positive and diligent, and can be relied upon to bring great energy to everything he does. Whether it’s sports or in the classroom, Lane’s leadership comes through. Lane is an all-around great person and a role model of what it means to be a true Outlaw. Congratulations, Lane!” — Gail Greaney “Lane Gladden, is one of the most self- motivated students I have ever worked with.” — Tony Cosby “It has been a pleasure to have Lane in my science classes over the last few years.
