The loss sustained by the fire amounted to about $3000, all of which was on the stage and equipment of the theatre auditorium. No damage was done to any of the walla of the building. The fire caught from an electric wire under the floor of the theatre stage and spread rapidly. The fact that there was no wind was very much In favor of .the firemen, who, with the assistance of the convicts, made a splendid fight, to save the building, The auditorium was built by the convicts at a cost of $10,000, and was dedicated Christmas day, 1911. What the exact loss Is cannot, of course, be determined yet, for, outside of the loss known, the damago ta the building cannot yet be told, nor can it be until after a thorough examina tion, but that It will be much above the figures given above Is probable. While the monetary loss Is not so great as was ut first anticipated, the fire Itself was spectacular, and, from Its location, and the possibility that were liable to happen, such as an out break of prisoners, made It one of state-wide interest. a.
