Mr. Durkhart made a side trip to Montreal. Both of the gentlemen are well pleased with their trip ond Buy that It Is worth any one's whllo to make such an one. These gentlemen saw many of the large cities of the cast. Including Denver, St. Louis, Chi cago, Cleveland, Baltimore, Now York, Boston and Montreal. Tho trip was made over what Is known as the N'lck cl Plate route. They passed through Rawlins, Wyoming, the day tho con victs lynched the man who had as saulted a woman who had befriended him, and who hud been placed In the penitentiary to protect htm from the populace of the community. While passing ovor the Tennessee pass in Colorado and old man died of heart failure. This Is a frequent occur rence at this point, which is over 10 -000 feet In altitude. At Washington D. At Now York the elevated railroads and subway roads were a revelation as well as the residences on Fifth rvenue and Broadway, where they look like so many store buildings coming cut to tho sidewalks. At one place In New York four lines of railroad are In operation, one elevated, one on a level with the street, one subway and rtlll another beneath that. Both enjoyed tho trip very much but both are equally glad to be back In good old Salem. CHURCH SERVICES. lie ;;: Swedish Tabernacle 1. K. Cliiircli- Corner South ir.ili and Mill fir. Rev.
