Many rebels are reported to have been killed and the list of wounded Includes the rebel Generals Morales and Guerrero. Fighting was discontinued at Culla can today, the rebels retreating Into the city with 36 wounded. He pleaded guilty and a nominal One was im posed on him by Judge Webster. Sues for 1875.72 Lewis Peterson, of Stayton, has started a suit In circuit court against Alfred Peterson, of Shaw, alleging that he has loaned said Peterson mon ey to the amount of $675.72, which he has never repaid. The allegation Is made In the complaint that the plain tiff paid moneys to the Rock Mercan tile company, of Stayton, at the re quest of the defendant, on promissory notes made by defendant, which has not been repaid. An attachment Is taken against 120 acres of land owned by the defendant. La Follett's baggage failed to arrive with him today, and not wishing to visit Pasadena in baggy trousers, he consigned them to the tender care of a friend, who sought the hotel valet. La Follette's visitors rushed to his apart ments before he could bar the door. HEW SCHEME TO BOOST FOR SUFFRAGE UN1TIO PRESS LS4SBD WIRI. London, April 26. A new scheme to boost the woman suffrage move ment is being planned here today by Mrs. Cecil Chapman, president of the New Constltutlnal Society for Woman Suffrage. Circulars are being spread broadcast throughout the country In viting women to sign the following pledge: "Feeling that we are called upon to make some sacrifice In the cause of woman's enfranchisement, I, the undersigned, undertake henceforth to sepnd the least possible amount In clothing and personal expenses of every sort, and to use all I save by this means to promote the suffrage movement until the parliamentary vote has been granted to women.' Furthermore, every pledge signed Is to be provided with printed slips for enclosing with every bill she pays, reading: I am pledged to save all I can from personal expensj in order to promote the woman suffrage move ment." It is believed that the tradesmen: milliners and others receiving these slips will be Influenced In favor of votes for women, especially when they look ' up the accounts of their customers and note the reductions from the previous year.
