The place of busi ness is Salem. Secure Depot Grounds A report is current on the streets today that an option has been secured by the Portland, Eugene & Eastern Railway company on the property of J. A. and Kdward Maker, at the south west corner of Liberty and Center streets. The price is understood to be in the neighborhood of $18,000. Boottlcher, of Al bany, gave a talk on Industrial edu cation In the public schools, which wa very Instructive and was well received. J. B. V. Butler, of Mon mouth Normal school gave a talk on civics nnd history. Mrs. Oarrow. of Sublimity, gave a demonstration In writing before the Institute. Her work showed marked development on the part of her pupils In the ait of writing.
