F. Livesley against Steve .1. Merton. The ruling was made on a demur rer Interposed to a separate answer in the case. Judge Kelly In making it, stated that the authorities seemed rather conflicting on the subject, but gave it as his opinion that' the courts of this state had held that such a contract could not be varied by a parole agreement. I Barr's Jewelry Store PETITIONS TO POT TEDDY OH THE BALLOT For the purpose of determining whether petitions launched to place the names of Col. Roosevelt on the ballot for president are in conform ity with the laws of the state, Oliver M. Hickey, one of the circulators, has submitted a sample to Secretary of State Olcott for Inspection. Hickey In his communication says that it will be easy to secure the re quired number of names as senti ment in favor of the colonel for president is tremendous. Under the law 1,000 signatures are , required and he says these can be ' obtained with but little effort. After an examination of the peti tions, the secretary decided that they were substantially correct. ?f !ft sft 3 iftkifiiftSjc sc sfc s(c NEW TODAY.
