Mrs. Meehan sued to compel the bank to turn over to her some $3,000 which she alleged she had placed on deposit . with it. She owed the bank on a note and the bank applied the money In discharge of It. When she sued for the money, the bank Interposed the note as a counter-claim. First Infantry o Philippines. Vancouver, Wash., Aug. 4. The first Infantry, stationed here, will de part for the Philippines August 15. Orders to this effect have been re ceived from the war department. TUmon was his brother's name and Waldo is for Judge Wm. Waldo, a schoolmate and life long friend of "Til" Ford. The Waldos and Fords crossed the plains together with ox teams In 1845 and helped save this great western country to the U. S. Charlie wished to honor his brother and his brother's old friend by nam ing his boy after them. Both the mother and boy are feeling fine. San Francisco, Aug. 4. General Manager E. I. Calvin, of the Harrl iiian system today denied the de mand of employes of the system for shorter hours and Increased pay. Calvin's dictum, followed a lengthy conference with a committee of the federated employes. An eight-hour day and seven per cent Increase In pay for helpers and semi-skilled workmen all over the system was asked.
