Despite their ef forts the fires continue to spread and calls for more men have been sent out by the forest supervisors, who are conducting the work. Eighteen fires are reported beyond control In Umpqua Forest Reserve and an army of men are attempting to stop their spread. Molalla-Clackamas fire, eight miles, long. Is being fought by 200 men. Two fires in Santiam National Re serve are fought by 15 men. Seventy men battle with flame In reserve in Douglas county. Fire near Hot Springs, Wash., la fought by 75 men. o IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE.
