After two hours of careful Interrogation and cros-examinatlon of Mrs. M. Haskell, who hag for two years been a visitor at tho institution of Dr. Wong Him, Chinese herb doctor, In San Francisco, with whom both Sid ney Cole and Anna Dudley, whom he shot on the streets, had been treat ing, enough evidence was adduced at the coroner's inquest today to prompt the authorities to go deeper Into tue case. Mrs. Haskell, who was examined to bring to light certain facts In con nection with the actions and treat ment of patients at the Chinese san itarium, which might suggest a mo tive for the slaying of Miss Dudley, proved an unsatisfactory witness. Apparently loth to testify at all. she evaded questions and gave answers which from time to time brought a caution from Coroner Gormley and Assistant District Attorney Atkinson, reminding her that she wa3 under oath. Indications are that others may be come involved In the mysterious troubles which seem to have formed the background for the tragedy of last Wednesday. "There are many things brought out in the investigation," said Coro ner Gormley, at the conclusion of the first session of the Inquest, "which necessitate further Investigation, es- peclally regarding the treatment j Cole received at Dr. Wong film's ' place."
