To bring the cities of the Pacific coast and the ter ritory of Hawaii closer together, com mercially and socially, is the object of the Pan-Pacific Travel Congress, which opened here today undter the auspices of the Hawaiian Promotion committee. In oraer to save enough out of his salary to pay his bills, was the expprlenre last week of Representative Miller of Colum bia connty. The suit was instituted against Rep resentatlve Miller by E. W. Lewis, through Deputy Attorney Winslow Thursday, and three accounts were set out in the complaint. The first was a balance of $75 on a note given by the defendant to the plaintiff, and the second and third were as signed notes, one amounting to $50 and thie other to $47. The Pullman Car Company Is today threat enlng to discontinue car service in Mississippi, as the result of a jury verdict allowing Miss Pearl Morris $15,000 damages because negroes were admitted to a sleeping car in which she was rluing.
