A, Poague and had ben attending the East Bchool until two weeks ago, when she became Ill She had lived here about six years, and leaves many friends and school mates to mourn her death. FOR D1VOIICK Alleging that her husband since their marriage has Inflicted upon her a long list of cruelties and In dignities, and also alleging that last year he deserted her, and has not since contributed to her support. Mrs. Laura Atcheson today filed with the clerk of the circuit c(irt an applica tion for divorce from her husband, Sam Atcheson. According to her complaint they were married at River Falls, Wis-! consln, In 1897. She was a widow then, she alleges, and had a daugh ter three years of age. The husband treated her so cruelly, she asserts, that she was compelled to send tier away, and then he started in with n line of cruel treatment upon her. Among other things alleged In substantiation of this last allegation is his request in 1899 to turn her checks for labor In the prune field over to him; also an Incident occur Ing In the prune fields In 1909. She was picking the prunes, sh" says, and he was emptying tlis buckets, and when she remonstrated with him, and asked him to assist her and the children more, he flew Into a rage and made severe accusa tions against her character. A majority of the members of the Balllnger In vestigating committee are reported today to be considering the advisabil ity of censuring former Chief Forest er Gifford Plnchot In the "majority report" on Secretary Balllnger, that aoon will be forthcoming. Senators Root, Sutherland and Flint, and Representatives McCall an 1 Olmstead conferred this afternoon, and it is understood that the ma jority report will exonerate Balllnger, and criticize Plnchot and others who accused the secretary of the Interior. The minority members of the com mittee are preparing a report, and It Is expected that most of the Insurg ent committeemen will support the minority. Supporters of Balllnger assert that there Is no doubt that the senate will accept the majority report.
