Malcolmson defeated Sor ter by two yards in 10 3-5 seconds on a wot clay track. Sorter led for 50 yards, when tho speedy white boy ovohauled him nnd won handily. The time was regarded as exceptionally fast, considering .tho condition of the track. Malcolmson is ono of the best! known runners of the country, having run for tho past three years under the colors of tho Chicago Amateur Athletic Association, and Is regarded as ho fastest amatewr runner In tho country, having a record of 30 1-5 seconds for 300 yards. His best timo for 10 yards has been 10 seconds, a mark on which ho has made on many occasions.
