Tho woolgrowcra. of Oregon, in tho sonson now drawing to a close havo onjoyed mWo than their usual sharo of prosperity, in fact, tho year has probably boon tho best In tho history of tho Industry of tho state. PricoB havo novor been so high since tho present range conditions existed, nnd compared with latn years, tho cost of production has been less. Tho tottnl clip of Oregon this year la estimated at 20,000,000 pounds. Last year tho sheep produced about 18,000,000 pounds. Tho valuo of tho 1907 clip Is ap proximately ?3, 800,000. Bcsldoa tho eastern money tho wool has brought into tho stnto, thoro havo been enormous shipments of shcop to othor sections and many more trnlnlonds will bo despatched boforo tho winter season comes. Wool mon estimate that not to ex ceed 1,000,000 pounds 'of wool re main unsold In Oregon nnd "Wash ington, about half of which Ib south of tho Columbia river. Twice aB much was unsold In Oregon nt this dato Inst year. As but littlo was contracted In tho state In tho pres ent year, it will bo seen that tho sea son, nfter It onco opened, wns .a de cldolly actlvo one. Nearly all of tho wool bought has been by this time sent on Its way to tho eastern markets and mills. Railroad facili ties wero good, as thoy usually aro during tho wool snipping period. Tho gonornl run of eastern Ore gon shipping wools sold this year at from 18 to 20 cents, whllo last year Heavy shrinking scouring wools brought generally from 14 to 17 cents. Tho top prlceB paid wero 22 cents at Pendleton nnd 21 cents at Shanlko. Last season tho best Shnniko clip brought 23 U 'cents. There aro othor Instances where In dividual clips did not roallzo as much as a year ago, but on the aver age tho prlco paid was about a cent better. Exports have declared that tho 1907 Oregon wools aro Inferior in quality to the 1906 clip. Ono au thority estimates that the intrinsic valuo of the product this year Is IVi conts loss than that of a year ago, The wools havo run lighter duo to a variety of causes, the bad winter, poor feod last fall and tho damp spring. There waB not bo much taplo and more clothing stock. Blue Mountain Eaglo. o Tho Limit of Llfo. Tho most eminent medical scien tists aro unanimous in tne conclu sion that tho generally accepted lim itation of human Hfo Is many years below tho attainment possible with the advanced knowledge of which tho race Is now possessed. Tho critical period, that determines Its duration, seems to be between 50 and 60; the proper caro of the body during this decade cannot be too strongly urged; carelessonss then being fatal to longevity. Nature's best helper after 50 Is Electric Bitters, tho scientific tonla medicine that revitalizes every organ of tho body. Guaranteed by J. C. Ferry, druggist. SOe.
