Oswald West, state land agent, has returned to Salem from a ten days' trip through the country to Bend and Prlneville. Mr. West made the Journey on official business but did not hinder him from having a very enjoyable trip. Mr. West says that part of Crook county affected by the new irriga tion projects, is very prosperous. Where a short time ago was one broad expanse of sage bush plains may now be seen fields of waving golden grain, splendid gardens and big hay fields. "There are a great many people In the new country," said Mr. West, "who are in moderate circumstances but there is abundaut employment for all of them at good wages, and no doubt all o them will soon be able to own homes."
