Jeurnal: Your suggestion of a few day3 ago relative to sprinkling State street to tho depot was a good one, and if carried cut would bo a start er in the direction of civic pride, such aa would vastly benofit our city. The city council ought to mako -arrangements to sprinklo the streets and charge for it, but if tho timo is not ripe for that we ought not to bo deprived of this inexpensive luxury and comfort. Our citizens vio with each other to sec who can bo tho most liberal in helping unfortunate outside, and 1 am sure if awakened to tho need would bo equally generous with their money in doing things for themselves. Public street sprinkling ought to be inaugurated soon, and' in order to bring this about lot us set tho bnll rolling hv stnrtintr up the luxury at private expense. It vent anv amendment of the will not cost much to havo our main law' thoroughfare kept clean and free from dust, and, nsido from the higher con siderations, it will pay us from the cold standpoint of dollars and cents. After wo have bad it for a few seasons, tho community will wonder how it over did without. Why cannot our park commis sioner tako this matter up and provide a solution for tho problem of streets.
