Tliis cliange was , mailo necessary In order to allow Mr. Toozo to return homo In time- to be present on Woodburn day (Saturday) ,t tho Lewis nnd Clark Exposition, when ho delivered tho principal ad dress. Tho address of Mr. Toozo Is ipokcn of by all who heard it as tho most eloquent, nblo nnd 'interesting ever delivered in tho history of tho pioneers' organization. Tho silver tongued young orator from French Pralrlo simply dolightod tho throng of people who pressed forward to hear him. Mr. Toozo 's ability as an orator j known throughout tho length nnd breadth of tho stato and extends oven to our sister states. His oratory, his fino volco and his splondld delivery won the admiration of all. Ho was fre quently interrupted by applause and when ho concludod his addross was tho recipient of hearty congratulations by hundreds of his hearors. Tho speaker took up tho struggles of the pioneers tho foundation builders of this grand Oregon commonwealth and drew a vivid picture of their trials and hnrdshlps nnd tholr pleas ures. Ho brought his nudlonco down tho winding pathway to tho present time, told of tho present with its great opportunities reaching out for tho sons and daughters to onjoy all mado pos- ilblo through tho efforts of tho pio neers who blazed tho trail, sufforcd tho torments of tho desort and oxporlonccd the isolation of tho first settlors. Ho painted a glowing picturo of tho fu ture, which is entrusted to tho hands of tho sons and daughtors, and told of the wondors of tho land of Orcgou. Mr. Toozo is a prominent candidato for congressman from this district. He is a merchant and postmaster at Woodburn, and also chairman of tho first district Republican congressional committee Ho has bcon prominent in political, fraternal and educational natters nnd in tho development of tho itato for many years.
