Jeernal: I hsve spent a few more days at the capital m an observ er at the halls of legislation, and can sty I ean now wore fully realise wnnt a fool I was making of myself a few years go when I was a member. My wife was op with me Bid she was terribly diM.ppolnt.vl st the ab sence of debate. She wss wishing that you aad Brother Barkley were nn tic floor to mske thincs lively as in the good old days when you were there 10 rears seo. Another thing she noticed wss that thi was not a soeial session, there boinff so receptions or parties to which any of the members and their wives aro iavited. Tbo members seem to up a very quiet lot of men. mostly stop ping at private houses or with rela tive. But fire members are said to be stopping at hotels. The lobbyists seem to bare more money than the member, and are staying at the ho tels, except the railroad magnate?, who star in their private ear. But there is little or no sociability among these members, as she looks at it. The newspapers have not even printed a list of the places where the members board, or whether any of them have their wives with them. Of eourse, this is not important, and when we take our la resting plaees for the long gitre vp through the grass roots it will bo all the same. 7 aotiee the usual talk about rail road passes among the members. When I was la the house a few years ago erfeh member got a pass for tho session, and could get a trip ticket from ono of the big railroad lawyers when they were up at Salem, lookini? after legislation. But it was gener ally conSsed to the man's wife or ilaoghter. Now I see they are using a great away for their whole farmh and friends. NO SUBSTITUTE has yet been found for cod Kvproil. There are so-called extracts, wines and cordials of cod liver oil that are said to contain the active principles but not the oil itself. This is absurd on its face. You might as well extract the active prin ciples of wheat and make bread with them. The best form of cod liver oil, that can be digested and assimilated most easily, is Scott's Emul- fp ' . w' .?.? r f"Y- v,v. rear .sifecif ut r lTallm& a Raise sion.
