L. Smith, vice-president Ralph W. Wilbur, recording secretory; W. O. El liot, Jr., recording secretary; Rev. George Creswell Crcssy, D. D., Joseph Shippen, Esq., Mrs. W. M. Stewart and Mrs. C. S. Hamilton. Tho meeting was opened at 7:45 p. rn.,"Tvith the conference sermon, "The Place and Work of the Church in Modern Life," by Rev. Earl M. Wil ber, dean of tho Unitarian Divinity School, Oakland, California, after whjch the conference adjourned until D o'clock. Reports from churches, women's so cieties and other - organizations, and the report of the corresponding secre tary, Rev. W. G. Elliott, Jr., were re ceived. At 11 a. m. an address, "Tim Ynnna People's Religious Union" was deliv ered by Miss Ellen S. Elliott, of Port land, Oregon. At 11:45 a. m. dovotlonal services wero held, and nt 12 o'clock dinner was served in Channing hall. At 2 p, in. the meeting was reopened with tho reading of tho greetings from absent ministers, which was followed at 2:30 by discussion upon the import ance of thorough instruction in the history and fundnmentnl principles of our fnith by Dr. Geo.
