The happiness of many n home lias received its down fall at the table, spread with rich and dainty foods. The first symptoms of disease of the stomach are ignored as being disagreeable but not dangerous. Presently dyspepsia or some other form of disease fastens on the stomacll. At any stage Dr. Pierce's Golden Med ical Discovery will cure diseases of the stonlach and other organs of digestion and nutrition. But the cure is quicker if the "Discovery" is used in the earlier stages of disease. If you have any symptoms of diseased stomach use "Golden Medical Discovery" and be cured. "I Teel that I would be doing an injustice to yon If I did not send yon a statement of my case." write Mm. Davlcf V. Oulce, of Hamburg, Franklin Co., Ml. " I had liver complaint and indigestion. Jeurnal: While railroads are fine things, and we need plenty of them, yet, it Is a sourco of apprehen sion to tho conservatives, when they are agitated under conditions which will build up one town by tearing down another. This proposed lino tc Portland, which is to run In 50 min utes at a 50 cent ticket rate, can be made to work great damage to Salem Interests. While a 50 minute trip will vory likely not bo put into effect, yet a trip consuming an hour and a quar ter or even an hour and a half, one way, will give us all a temptation to "slide" down to Portland, and back before dinner, and get what wo want It will raise Cain with business in many ways. It will bo a flno thing one way, .but our morchants may suf fer from' this fine acquisition. On tho other hand, of course, we can get somo benefits from It. Portland can neither sleep nor eat her visitors during tho fair, so wo can get our money which, we lose la a business way, out of the roomers which will bo obliged to come to Salem. I understand on the quiet that Portland, seeing that this road1 might work a hardship to Salem, has taken some steps to stop Its construction, for fear some one might want to take the state house down with them somo morning before tho janitor got up. Portland seems to be alive to the fact that there are some individuals who would like to have tho Capital City moved down there. But speaking of dogs, and railroads, it would not be a bad Idea to look into the effects sure to follow such a convenience as a 50 minute and 50 cent trip to Port land. The railroad out of tho Falls City district will only run about 20 miles an hour, but there Is no chance for Salem to lose on it. Bettor give this road our first boost, because we might need her to offset the loss ac cruing to Salem from our high speed Portland lino. SLEEPING PILLAR. Very Annoying to Some People. People that are known to bo weak and sickly, by their neighbors, are asked tho question every day whether they are feeling better. Do you fool stronger? Are you gaining flesh? Their friends know if they aro gain ing flesh, it is one of tho sure signs of returning health. It they can only get a. remedy that will mako solid flesh, recovery 13 assured. People with nervous troubles, loss of flesh and strength, no ambition, languid, and always tired, havo thin watery blcod. Tho food they eat does not nourish them, It does not mako blood. If after each meal they would take Dr. Ounn's Blood and Nerve Tonic, thoir food would bo turned into rich, red blood, making solid flesh and strength Tho tablets aro sold In boxes by all druggists for 75 cts. or 3 boxes for ?2. People who use this tonic gain In solid flesh from 1 to 3 lbs. per week, they feel better and know they aro on tho road to health. For sale by Dr. S. C. Stone, druggist. "Strangler" Knapp Case, Columbus, O., Juno 24. Tho case of Alfred A. Knapp, the alleged "strangler," who Is under sentence of death, camo up for hearing today In tho state supremo court. Knapp Is to bo given a second trial and It Is now being arranged to havo tho trial held early In tho coming fall. It will take placo at Hamilton. Tho crime of which Knapp was con victed was tho murder of his wlfo, Hannah GoJdard Knapp. Tho mur der was committed at Hamilton in Decembor, 1902. In addition to this crime Knapp confessed to having strangled threo other women and girls, two In Cincinnati and one In Indianapolis. Ho waa suspected of tho murder of sovoral other womon and girls.
