The heps are Injured by want of rain. Alt spring grain Is short, and that Intended to bo cut for hay Is likely to be a very light crop. Strawberries and other small fruits are cut very, short. Conditions are favorable to a fine quality of cherries, but they will also bo light and short yield on account of lack of rain. Director Edward A. Beales, of tho Oregon weather and climate bureau, presents the following summary of conditions at the close of the past week: General Summary. Tho droughty conditions prevailing throughout the state were partially relieved by scattering showers during the latter part of tho week; bub, as a rule, the amount of precipitation was not sufficient to do much good, and more rain is badly needed for all crops. The extremely dry spoil has had a damaging effect on spring grain, and In some sections It will be light in yield. Fall wheat and barloy have headed nicely, and a good yield of both of these cereals Is promised. Haying Is progressing rapidly un der tho favorable weather conditions; the crop will bo light, especially west of the Cascades. The first, cut ting of alfalfa has nearly all been se cured In good condition; the yield was above the average, and tho gen eral quality good. Pasture continues In fine condition, but is beginning to dry up some. Stock is fat and the supply of milk in tho dairy districts continues abundant. Gardens and root crops are making growth, owing to the dryness of tho soil. Early potatoes are doing well, and will soon .be ready for marketing. Corn has not made much advance ment, owing to a lack of warm weath er. Tho strawberry season is drawing to a close. Raspberries and Kentish cherries aro ripening nicely, and promise fairly good yields. Apples are doing' well, but pears, prunes and peaches continue uneven. Do It loaay. The time-worn injunction, "Novor put off 'till tomorrow what you can do today," is now generally present ed In this ferm: "Do it today!" That' Is the terse advise wo want, to give you abou,t that hacking coughor de moralizing cold with which you have been struggling for several days, per haps weeks. Take some reliable reme dy for It TODAY and let that remedy bo.Dr. Boscheo'B German Syrup, which has been in use for over thirty-five years. A few doses of It will undoubt edly relieve your cough or cold, and its continued use for a few days will cure you completely. No matter how deep-seated your cough, oven If dread consumption has attacked your lungs, Gorman Syrup will surely effect a cure as it has done before in thou sands of apparently hopeless cases of lung trouble. New trial bottles, 26c; regular size, 76c. At all druggists. At Dr. Stone's drug stores. ToMakeaitrMe SfeSQQ Many a woman would make a beau tiful bride but she is de-: terred from entering the married state beoause of ill-health. FOR WOHEN WHO Oannot de cured. The proprietors and makers of Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription now feel fully warranted in offering to pay $$op iu legal money of the United States, for any case of Leucorrhca, Female Weak ness, Prolapsus, or Falling of Womb which they cannot cure. All they ask Is a fair and reasonable trial of their means of cure. "If women would study the law of health and use a little more common sense there would not be such a large number to-day suffering with the ilia peculiar to our sex," writes Mrs, Sallle Martins (President Mutual Sodal Science Club), of 180 South Halstead Street, Chicago, 111. "Then when medicine Is needed If they would take the 'Favorite Prescription,' they would have a chance to get well. I used Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription three years ago and it cured me of female weakness of several years' standing, so I know what I am talking about when I praise it and always know what the tesult wilt be where it is used.'' Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets should be used with "Favorite Prescription" whenever a laxative is required. POLK FARMERS MEET Willamette Valley Chautauqua Asso. elation.
