Cornelius, Or., May 26. Yesterday was a gala day in, this part of "Wash ington county, and will lo'ng bo re membered a3 a great Herman rally day. The Republicans had a grand all day meeting with a barbecue, "mag nificent speeches and Republican en thusiasm generally. Over 1000 peo ple wero assembled to hear Congressman-Hormann and Chairman Toozo both of whom mao able addresses. Aside front these, all the county can didates appeared and spoke for them selves. Senator lalarkey, of Port land, was also present, and let the bird of freedom soar to Its greatest heights. Tho whole day was one grand ova tion, speech-making, visiting, hand shaking, barbecue festivities, and a grand Republican 'family reunion, such as has not been known in this county In many years. Predictions are that Mr. Hermann will receive from 500 to 1000 majority In this county.
