I went to Ottawa, Kansas, and remained there until Company K, 20th Kansas Volunteers started for Ban Francisco, nnd they let mo go that far, then they stowed mo In tha hull of tho ship, nnd September 2d wo Marled for Manila. Our first battle was at Coloocan, whoro I was wound ed in tho right side, whllo after water. Our noxt battlo was at Mololas, and again I was woundod In the right arm, and wont to tho hospital Had Just gotton out, whon wo were ordered to scout along tho Dag Dag river, whom wo destroyed two towns, and many huts. When we advanced on Malabon, tho Philippine capital, I wns wounded again in tho loft limb, nbovo tho knee, and twlco In tho right limb bolow the knee, and my right kneo cap was broken by a Mauser ball. On Moy 4th wo advanced on San Fernando, but tho battlo was. fought tho 3d, and wo wore too lato, nnd I was In Bcvcrnl other battles, but I was not again wounded Tho company was ordered homo December Oth, and I remained with tho Ninth Infantry, Company O, under CnpL Connors, and went with him to China, whero I was In only two battles, at Teln Tsln and Pokln. In Tela Tsln I was wounded In tho left breast and In tho left arm, and In Pckln I lost my hearing and speech by a ball entorlng my chin and coming out behind my loft ear. I was also In tho massacro of Samar Island, when my company was butchered up September 27, 1901, and I escaped with flvo bolo cuts to return homo, to find thnt my parents, upon hearing I was killed, had moved, nnd loft no traco behind them. I am now search ing for them. Being a mascot, nnd not on tho pay roll, I can not get a pension. FRKD L. HOWE, JR.
