If this ordinance is en forced it will leave much of the property far aboe the established grade, and seriously injure the value of it. "If those people cau prevent tLat street being graded because some property will be above or below grade, then there is no use talking of any street work whatever in Sa lem," says Chairman Hunt. The motor line will run accommo dation trains for the cadet concert. A farce will also be presented. It is said that a party living on the Lucklamuto was several nights ago given a thorough coat of tar and feathers, for alleged uuduo intimacy with another iesideut's wife. It is veiy probable that the matter will not end here. Thinking to advauco tho interests of the older and give it a larger field of action, the Polk county grangers met at Dallas Friday and effected a permanent organization of what is known as a Pomona grange. This takes the place of the old coun cil. Tho following permanent officers were elected: B. F. Smith, master; J. C. White, overseer; W. O. Brown, lecturer; Jas. Simonton, chaplain; O. Wolvertou, steward; J. H. Olmsted, assistant steward; Mrs. Mary Baskett, lady steward; J. A. Dempsey, secretary. Thoy will meet again ou the first Friday in May at the same place.
