Tatton, Numbering 4500 Varieties. This morning a Journal reporter stepped Into tho largo book and sta tionary store of T. McF. Pattton.nnd while thero his attention was called to nn international postage stamp collection, that Messrs E. C. and H. D. I'atlon have been successful in obtaining after four years' diligent search tho world over. These young gentlemen In com pany with their parents visited Ja pan In 18S5, and then and there be gan their stamp collection. Since that time they have spared neither pains or money to obtain one of tho rarest collections of postago stamps ever o vned by a private individual Their album contains nil varieties of postage stamps ever issued in any country In the world, also portraits of tho rulers, linns and arms of every nation, togcthcrwlth valuable statistical information regarding their size, population, capitals, etc. The postago stamps of every coun try are arranged in sets, according to value and In chronological order. Hi the United States collection they have an original, "New York live cent black" stamp of 17-1-5 Issue, valued at $4.50. The most valuable stamp of their United States collec tion, is one of 18-50 Issue, of the live cent denomination, it is valued at $7.60 and Is very rare at that price. Their United States collection em braces all stamps Issued from 1845 to tho present date, Including depart ment and revcnuo stamps. In their collection Is a complete set o Oregon tax stamps all of which are unused. An almost complete collection of stamps used by the Argentlno Rep ublic Is now In their pojscsslon. An original ".10-centreal" of 1843 Issue of tho Empire of Jlrazil is among this vast collection. Cape of Good Hope was not forgotten In tho search and four trianglar stamps of 1853 adorn their album. Guatemala In well represented in cluding provisionals. Tho price paid was $12,000. This will bo another rail road addition During tho week ending yester day, thirty-six deeds wero recorded, transferring $73,101 worth of prop erty. In the five weeks ending yes terday, 248 deeds wero filed, trans ferring $782,481. Eleven lots In Kinney's Astoria were Bold for$1500, and were considered a good buy.
