Tho heaviest rain over knowu to fall In Shasta county fell hero j-esterday. Tho Sacramento river la twenty seven feet above low water mark and still rising. Cottonwood creek is twenty-flvo feet abovd low water mark and within nineteen Inches of reaching tho railroad bridge, cover lug thousands of acres of l'ind, mak ing many of tho county roads im passable. Mrs. John Dorrls' house Is sutrouuded with three or four feet of water, and should tho rain continue Its downpour through tho night it is in danger of being swept away. Tho half mllo of railroad bridge ou the eouth edgo of town is in a very rocky condition and Is expected to be washed away at every moment. It is guarded by n largo crow of men. Four hundred yards of railroad track on tho south end of tho bridge is washed away. A railroad bridge at Hooker station, three miles south of here, was washed away this aftei noon, also a half mllo of track. Eight inches of rain fell during tho past twenty four hours, and at this wrltimr con tinues to pour down with no pros pect of letting up.
