INTERESTING TALKS ARE GIVEN AT CATHOLIC CHURCH NEBRASKA CLOSE LINCONL. Neb., May 2. Eight bun dred aad twenty-nine saloons, fifteen breweries aad ten rectifying plants in Nebraska are closed under a prohibi tory law initiated by the electorate aid reinforced by a supplemental stat ute enacted by the legislature. Purchase, manufacture, sale or gift of liquor Is prohibited, but possession is aot forbidden. A Urge number of saloons throughout the state, reports aid, sold their stock before noon. As a consequence prices soared until bot tled whiskey and beer retailed In y towns at prices prohibitive to meagre purse. Stocks of a few were auctioned off, and the .were eager aad the "knock Agures high. "1 rt.4 jlM0KXWWWWWlXl IMMIMMMWIMIIMMWWIMMMM(W dC LORENZ TM Mate St. rowoiNo, vmMMrvrnsa Weaar jrt W L aad Ptee Work etaslKhsds Systems laetaUrd xoum There is a series of interesting talks being given each night 'this and next week at the Catholic church. Eighth and High streets, at S o'clock. Taey are intended for ail who desire to know' and speak intelligently of the Catholic church. The Question Box will be a feature of these exercises. Everyone has some questions they would like to ask In regard to religion or the Catholic caurcii. do not hesitate to propose them. We welcome Inquiry, especial ly from those who are honestly op posed to us. Perhaps the people of Klamath Falls have often beard the Catholic church described as an enemy to liberty, prog ress and good morals. At any rate. garbled versions of history, "bogus or ex-priests," scurrilous books and papers, have poisoned with prejudice and misunderstanding, the minds of many otherwise well-intentioned peo ple. Should they not then show that broad, liberal American spirit that Is always ready to bear the other side of the question, by coming to these lee luresi no money win e asked; no collections taken up. Those who love the Catholic religion should attend and bear the founds- tions of the ancient faith reviewed and vindicated. Those who HATE the Catholic religion should attend, to And out whether or not their aversion is well founded. PATRIOTISM requires us to eliminate sectional, racial and reugious enemities; CHARITY re quires us to love others and not hate them; JUSTICS forbids us to, falsify or misjudge even one of our fellow citizens, much less millions of them. IN A SPIRIT OF FAIRNESS AND KINDNESS, THESE SHOULD COMB AND FIND OUT FOR THEMSELVES. These who are INDIFFERENT about the Catholic religion (do aot care, one way or the other) should at tend. Do they not wish to be well in formed upon every question of far reaching importance ? But the Cath olic church commends itself to the study of every Intelligent aad knowl edge seeking mind. ALL, regardless of creed, should at tend these lectures. All are asost wsl- ease; all will be treated aelUeJy, aha lUbir, Usffr.
