I began thin reform twenty-two year ago, and secured an endorsement of It In our national platform In 1900. Mr. ltooscvelt, though president for sev en and a half years after 1900, never referred to the popular election of senator In a message to congress or In a public speech until about two years ago. Second I have been advocating an Income tax for many years. He be gan toward the close of his second administration. Third I have for a number of years advocated publicity before elec tion a to campaign contribution, and I secured the endorsement of the reform in the Denver platform of 1908. Mr. Roosevelt, at that time, opposed publicity before the election. lie has since come around to the ad vocacy of publicity before election.
