Catrt. Wilbur announced at Ihe .state executive committee meeting of the American Legion in Portland last week that the bill is almost ready. The measure will be almost identical with the one that passed the house at the la.t MMton of the legislature, but was defeated in the senate. A few minor changes in phraseology will be made. The bill is along the linen of the California law, which has been up held by the courts. Cupt. Wilbur eaid tbit h thought in less than two weeks petitions will be circulated In every county in the state. He tay.s he has received a large num ber of letters from all sections of Ore gon asking when the bill will be ready, and volunteers have offered to pass the petit ions. '"lhis bill goes as far as we can go ami coven all objectionable phases of land owning by Orientals," said Capt. Wilbur. Attorney Wilbur, a member of the I l' ion's state executive committee, WBJ appointed at the January meeting of the committee to prepare a measure for the people's vote. Mb work was approved at last week's session of the committee, and Legion posts through out the state wi.l be urged to actively UDDOrt the measure. The grange also will be invited to cooperate. The United Spanish War Veterans have pledged the Legion its support of the bill. It was decided that the 1922 state convention of the Legion will be held July 27, 28 and 29. This date was ar rived at after conferring with The Italics post. U. OF 0. MOVIES TO BE SHOWN HEBE SOON City School Supt. GIRL STt'DENTC ARE UNDERWEIGHT The following is a report of Mies Frances Elizabeth Laker, in charge of physical education In the city schools : 1 I'... ..-ul ovDminuli.in triven to the girls of the high school and junior high school both last year and this year show the following results : UTfm Underweight, 41 per cent, 41 per cent: defective teeth, per cent, 25 per cent; enlarged thyroids, , 41 per cent; defective vision, 18 per cent, 19 per cent ; defective tonsils, 3 per cent, 7 per cent. m.. fc& Students who are handicapped by physical defects can not do the mental work that they would otherwise be capable of doing. For this reason the county health nurse and the girls' phy sical director have given the examina tions, and have Bent results to defec tive students and their parents in or der that they may correct the defects. Simple treatment at home will cure enlarged thyroids. Any physician should be able to direct you in this treatment. No tooth will decay unless it is dirty ; but when once decayed no home treatment can cure it. The sooner you 0 to the dentist the less pain you have to suffer, and the less money you have to part with. Bad teeth mean indiges tion, lowered vitality, plague spots for contaminating sound teeth and for breeding diesase germs. The individ ual with decayed teeth, or even with unclean teeth is open to infection of the lungs, tonsils, stomach, glandB, ears, nose, and adenoid tissues. Sev eral insurance companies give free dental treatment to policy holders; not to bestow charity, but to increase profits. Defective vision is not due to weak eyes so much as it is due to misuse of eyes. Light for reading or cioae worK should be neither too dim nor too bright. Light should never shine di rectly into the eyes but should fall over the left shoulder. If there is any initiation about defective vision the eyes should be tested at once. Many time minor defects can tie remeuiea u luliin in I iint- Correction of oDtlcal defects by glasses often gives marked leiiet trom headache anu insomnia, as well as enabling me individual io see many times things which were not within his range ot vision before. Defective tonsils, like defective teeth, are a menace to the health of the whole family. Adenoids, detective tonsils and neclected teeth are directly related to malnutrition, sickness and dullness. We can save the students from failures and from lives ot ineili- ciency and we can save the taxpayers' money u we can ieacu me hluuciild e hahita and irive them medical and dental treatment when needed. 4 Carloads of Fordsons Sold The Dickson Motor Co. announces I l.al tin to date four carloads of Ford- sori tractors have been sold by them. It is no wonder. Ihe low price and the almost uncanny performance of the great little tractor has caused tm.nv ranchers of the vallev to express the sentiment of F. W. Senner, of Sul tan, Wash., who savs : "Farming without a tractor? Noth ing doing! You may as well go back to the old spinning wheel to weave your cotton. You could not get me to farm without one. When I look back to those old chore days it makes me shud der. Drudgery, drudgery, all the time. Thank modern machinery, and particu larly Henry Ford, for eliminating this for me. Farming for me today is a pleasure. The only reason why a farmer is without a Fordson today is probably because he thinks he cannot fford one. Let me tell you, farmer friend, my reason for having a Fordson tractor is because I cannot all'ord to be without one." Man's Foot Alarms lireak (asters Ouests at breakfast at the Hotel Oregon last Friday were startled when plastering on the ceiling clattered down and a man's leg protruded through an opening. Second storv r.M.nid are being remodeled and por tions of the flooring have been re moved. A guest on a tour of inpoetion plunged his foot onto the unprotected ceiling. The inquisitive guest saved himelf from a bad fall by grasping a joist, and the morale of the alarmed breakfasters, who thought a collapse was In progress, was restored with ex planations. But it is a fact that the reborinp; of cylinders of auto mobile motors restores them to their normal power. The little increase in the size of the rebored motors does not increase the power, but the fact that the motors are put in the condition in which, presumably, they left the factory, often accounts for what owners justly claim to be a noticeable increase in power. We have the most up-to-date facilities for reboring your cylinders. HOWELL BROS. FOURTH STREET Tel. 2551 When you a Drug think GOD CHA5. N.
