Weber) The annual meeting of the ministers of The Dalles district of the Methodist Episcopal church, which was held at the Methodist church at Odell recently, proved to be a great success. The .score or more visiting ministers were unanimous in stating that it was the hest meeting of its kind they had ever attended. There was a veritable feast of good things, for mind and soul, as well as for the body, and the folks of Odell community received mental im pressions and a spiritual uplift which will abide for all time. The opening session found most of the visitors present. The committee on reception and entertainment, of which Mrs. Allison Fletcher was chair man, assisted by the members of the church, gave a reception to the visitors which terminated in games ana re freshments. An hour s program was conducted bv Kev. W. S. Gleiser. The invocation was delivered by M. I). Odell. A piano solo by Miss Margaret Fletcher, a reading by Mi-8 Eunice Odell and a vocal solo by Kev. James Have, of the Fine Grove church, were enioved. and each was obliged to re- snond with an encore. The address of welcome in behalf of the Odell church was delivered by G. A. Weber and the reponse thereto was given by Dr. D. H. Leech, of 1'ortland, the; MW super intendent of The Dalles district. A uniformly high order of papers, addresses and discussions filled the forenoon, afternoon and evening ses sions of the second and third days. Ti e reports of the ministers revealed that the religious and moral work which is being done In eastern and central Ore gon is of a very substantial character; and, that the programs of activities which the churches of this district are carrying out will keep them in the forefront for religious, moral and so cial progress. Without a single excep tion, these reports were encouraging and helpful ; and, as they served as a clearing-house of ideas and plans of operation, the listeners received many an inspiration and bit of encourage ment. The Dalles district is widely scattered and much diversified, but in teiests spiritual and moral seem to be of one accord. Outstanding features were the two sermon-addresses at the evening sessions. The speaker Tues day evening was Kev. Thomas M. Gal lagher, of the Kunnyside Methodist church, Portland; and Wednesday even ing the rostrum was filled by Dr. W. W. Youngson, superintendent of the Portland district. Both speakers ad dressed capacity audiences and the message that etch brought to his aud itors will be long remembered. Dr. Youngson substituted for Bishop W. O. Sheppurd, scheduled to be present, but who was prevented by sickness. Much favorable comment was heard concerning the four tine meals which the ladies of the church served Tues day and Wednesday, beside the dainty refreshments Monday evening. Long tables were set in the basement dining room, laden with full course meals of the most substantial character. Ev erything was t,erved free of charge to all who came, and those were happy hours of fellowship that will be long remembered. Superlative praise came from the lips of many of the visitors, some of whom have attended many district meetings and many gatherings of much greater size and scope, but no meeting of a liner spirit or of higher type of personnel and ability. Many voiced their desire to come to Odell again soon, but as it is the custom to lotate these annual gatherings to all parts of the district, it may be many years before the folks of this commun ity will have opportunity to be host on another such occasion. The church was neatly and tastefully decorated. Free local transportation and entertainment was furnished all visitors. The executive committee in charge of the arrangements was composed of J. C. Duckwall, Andrew Weinheimer, Clayton Fletcher and Mrs. Allison Fletcher. Kntertainmerit committee, Mrs.J J. K. Ferguson, Mrs. J. H. Fletcher and Mrs. Frank Purdy. The dinner committee was composed of Mrs. G. A. Weber, Mrs. Hert Hoffman and Mrs. Willis Sheirbon. The decora tion committee, Mrs. Will Kemp, Mrs. Fred Howard and Mrs. Andrew Weinheimer. But it is a fact that the re boring of cylinders of auto mobile motors restores them to their normal power. The little increase in the size of the rebored motors does not increase the power, but the fact that the motors are put in the condition in which, presumably, they left the factory, often accounts for what owners justly claim to be a noticeable increase in power.
