There Is n great deal ot bitterness against Bryan among the Clark ad herents. They felt the Nebraskan had no right to attempt to placo a Morgan-Bolmout-Ryan brand on the speaker just becauso the Now York delegation gave Its support to him. They have attempted to offset tho ef fect upon the progressives mado by Bryan's statement that bo would withhold his vote from tho Missouri nn as long as New York's vote went to him. At tho samo time they ar gued that Clark could not wipo out tho Injury without attacking Bryan In tho forum, where Bryan's assault was delivered. Tho majority of tho Missouri dele gates folt that whilo Clark would bo justified in facing Bryan and defend ing himself before tho convention, his opponents would charge his appear anco was for tho purposo of person ally seeking vindication in the form of votes. Former Senator Dubois and Mr. Williams aro said to have ig nored tho advice of their associates in the Clark camp and to have told Clark his only chanco 'of redress lay in the lmmediato confrontal of Bryan nnd the convention. They urged him to tnko tho first train, believing it would get him hero beforo adjourn ment of tho session, but tho motion to adjourn camo too quickly for them. Tho chances aro that Clark would havo reached tho convention hall In timo to mako tlfo dramatic entrance had not tho plans of Messrs. Williams and Dubois becamo known and tho movo forestalled. i IN FINE FLT1LE EAST LAS VEGAS, N. M., July 1. BLAME BRYAN FOR CM LOSS h a Hi BETftAERS TILE people of .Oregon inst muted (hoir dolegalos o both national conventions as to their wishes. By a largo majority the republican delegates were sent to work and vote for Roosevelt, the domkwats to work for Wilson. Half of the republican delegation worked openly for Taft all along the line, on the final ballot only voting for Roosevelt, after having aided TaCt to control the organiza tion. Now come two of the democrats, doing the same thing. Mr. llojman voting against the progressive organization and voting for Parker, then casting his ballot for Harmon who received practically no votes, then following Tam many's lead with Mr. Godfrey, and switching to Clark, try ing thereby to defeat "Wilson for whom they are instructed. Oregon democrats should remember these two be trayers of the cause of progre.ssivcncss and rcpudiators of the people's wishes and whenever they show their heads in politics, shy n brick at; thein. OREGON MANUFACTURES ATTENTION is again called to the page the Oregon manufacturers are publishing in the Mail Tribune weekly. The industries represented show that Oregon is making substantial progress Every Oregonian should make it a point to ask for Oregon made products, and stop the drain of millions of dollars yearly to the east. Oregon can make nearly everything Oregon needs, just as Oregon can produce nearly everything Oregon eats. To become a great commonwealth, Oregon must be self sustaining and the first step is to produce at home what is consumed. Every time you buy an Oregon-made product, you furnish employment to Oregon people, who in turn con sume Oregon grown produce. You help create an endless chain which in the end benefits you as well as everyone in the state. Study this page of Oregon manufactures and then help make them successful by buying the Oregon products. SOLDIER ELDER SAN FRANCISCO, July 1. Sold ier Willis Elder tho former soldier who was unearthed by G. M. Ander son, the moving picture king in time to whip a number of aspiring white hopes and fought two rattling draws with Charley Miller, who gained a recent decision over Al Kaufman here, is training faithfully at Mod ford, Ore., which will be staged July 4. Elder resembles old Bob Fltzsim- ons, onco holder of tho world's cham pionship title and is by no means lazy. In fact his trainers arc always happy when a day's work is done for they aro enabled to rest. Hardened by continuous work with the moving picture company of which his manager, G. M. Anderson Is part owner, Elder Is nearly fit at the present timo to enter tho ring at a moment's notice. Like the Fitzslm ons of old, the former soldier has Ilttlo superfluous flesh to tako off. Only a small amount of road work to keep hlB . wind In condition is needed. At tho present time Elder is In charge of Freddie Bogan, who will bo remembered by old timo ring fol- Idwers as tho nlan who fought Dal Hawkins In San Francisco years ago and won many ring battles. Abo At tcl. Red Watson, Spider Rocho and Anton Lugracvo arc helping to teach Elder filmo finer points at boxing. Not alono does Elder expect to win the coming bout on July 4 with Monohan, bub will issue a challcngo to tho winner of tho Jolinson-Flynn bout at Las Vegas, N. Champ Clark came to Baltimore Saturday night to call on his managers who re ported that his candidacy had suf fered by reason of an "attack on his honor" by Bryan. Tho convention apparently Is hopelessly deadlocked nnd had adjourned until Monday" be fore tho speaker's arrival. Back of Clark's coming was a rumor ot thu disruption In his polttcal campaign. Senator Stone, former Governor Francis of Missouri, tho main body of tho Missouri delegation snld they opposed tho speaker mnklng an ap peal to tho convention In his own be half. Tlicy believed tho convention would misinterpret. When the convention adjourned at night Clark was hurrying to Balti more from Washington In rosponso to an urgent call of his campaign di rector. Bryan at tho afternoon ses sion attacked Clark and said ho would vote for no man willing to ac cept tho nomination 1 at the hands of "Murphy of Tammany Ijall." It was tho plan of Clark to appear beforo the convention and mako answer. In this way his managers hoped to bol ster tho waning strength.
