Humes, a real estate man, urged the council not to desert n "strategic point" by retraction but t use it to club the business men into line. He nlso proposed a novel coop erative scheme whereby the valley would take cure of 10,000 unemploy ed men by having them saw wood and plant beans on tho labor unit plan.
