Parents deslro and expect to t tain success In tlio rcarlns of their children and to this end they will pacrlflco to a groat extent. Just so does every tonchor desire to accom plish her part in tho successful training and education of these same children. Now each of these factors, ovon If they work conscientiously by themselves, may not produce the best of results, but IC the school and the homo, which aro tho two main fac tors In tho child's lite, would only work together, how much better re sulls might bo obtained. Too often theso forces do not pull togother and then results aro far from satisfac tory. Ono of tho chief forces that liofps to produco this unsatisfactory result is tho dlfferenco of environ ment between the Bchool and the homo life. Parents insist upon com forts and pleasant surroundings in their homes. Should not tho chil dren and teachers demand theso samo conditions? If these conditions aro not somewhere near tho same, can wo expect teachers and pupils to look upon tho schoolroom as any thing hut a place of confinement whero tho children arc required by law to remain a certain number or hours every day? When petty troubles arise or thcro is a lack of correct understand ing, parents often consult with a sympathizing neighbor instead of taking the matter up, with the teach er. Teachers also often nlako the mlstako of neglecting to take every opportunity to get acquainted by consulting parents in regard to dif ficulties their children may bo hav ing. It is Just as essential that tho teacher should understand and assimilate tho conditions of her pu pil's homo llfo as It is for tho par ent to Investigate or Inquire Into the child's condition In school. THEY TREAT NEWS SLEUTHS DIFFERENTLY TRIPOLI, Dec. 2. Pccause he bad written accounts of the cruelties per petrated by the Turks on the Italians during the Turko-Italian war. Jean Cnrere, correspondent for the Paris Temps was stabbed and seriously wounded in a restaurant hero today. A letter left by the attempted as sassins of Carrerc warned other cor respondents to cease from recounting the news of Turkish cruelties. elation between parents and teach ers. Parents aro anxious that tho teachers have every possible advan tage In tho training of their chU dren, but as a general thing are slow to take tho Initiative. They should, however, unite their efforts with those of the teachers in order to accomplish the mo3t good. No misunderstanding can long exist where all persons Interested under stand one another. Tho Parent-TeaJhers' circle, if properly managed, will remove many of tho petty misunderstandings that often exist. Such circles cannot help but do good it they will but keep In view their main object, namely, the betterment of the school and home to tho end that our boys aud girls may becomo better citi zens. G. W. AGER. MAKE HIT IN EAST Prof. P. J. O'Gara is doing some thing pretty nearly nil the time for the good of Koguo Kivcr valley. When he isn't telling the orchard men how to exterminate the bug pests and eradicate e diseases which fruit trees are heir to he is sending fruit to friends in the east to demonstrate to them tho proficiency of his work. He recently sent a box of Spitrenburc npplcs to Prof. Charles E. Pessey cf the University of Nebraska, nnd be low Prof. Bessey tells in n letter to Mr. O'Qnra what he thinks of the fruit: "My Dear O'Gara: On Saturday afternoon the box of Spitzenburg ap ples came nnd they have already ben sampled nnd nre pronounced to be ex traordinarily fine. We nre in a stale of 'chronic gratefulness' now to yon and shall continue so to be until nil these apples nre properly eaten, and eaten they will be. Thev remind me very mnch of the bnautiful apples of this variety that I used to ent with so much relish in northern Ohio. I wish it were possible for ns to grow fruit of this kind here, bnf ccrtninly yon have a gr'ejvl advantage over us in this matter of fine fruit." Yon really know where to find the new borne after answering n lot of "possible" ads.
