George Putnam has returned from a visit to his brother, nt San Fran cisco, Arthur Putnam, the Cullforula RculptoV, who was recently twlco operated upon lor brain tumor, Ho reports that tho sculptor Is making a gnme right for life and unless n reoccurrenco of tho baffling malady follows, may be able eventually to resume his work. Though surgeons say that he Is permanently paralyzed upon his left side and the motlvo portions of tho brain removed, Putnam can, with ef fort, move both foot and hand nnd It Is believed that when tho great wound In his head caused by tho double operation has healed suffi ciently to penult It, that massage and electricity will ennblo him to partially regain uso of his helpless side. For two weeks following tho sec ond operation tho sculptor lost ground steadily. During tho past week, however, ho has gained re markably, though still pathetically helpless. Tho Intense pnlu In his head that prevented sleep except under opiates, is gradually lessening. His mind Is as clear as It ever was. Associates aro finishing uncompleted orders under his directions and n host of friends stand ready to assist him. He has been moved from tho hospital to an apartment near by.
